Choose One’s Own Way
“The last of the human freedoms: to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way.” Viktor Frankl, MD
You are likely aware that there are multiple “versions” of you. If not, ask those closest to you. There is likely the engaged you, the happy you, the grumpy you, the frustrated you, and many others. What you may not be aware of is how much control you have over which of these shows up! This isn’t about not having a wide range of emotions, but rather how they are expressed. But the first step is even being aware of what you are feeling and how that is manifesting to those around you.
This week I want to challenge you to set an intention each day prior to your work and decide who and how you want to show up for others (you can do it at home as well!). Then see what happens. And when you check-in with your PeerRx partner, consider sharing your intention and perhaps some details about the impact. Specifically share:
Here’s how I want to be perceived by others this week at work
This is one specific thing you, as my PeerRx partner, can do to help support and/or encourage me to have the “better me” more regularly appear.
Thanks in advance for carefully considering your options. Both you and those around you will be better off because of this choice.
Ready, set, connect …
